We hold Science Cafes in Ljubljana, on British Council premises once monthly, last Tuesday of the month, at 18.00 - 20.00 hours. For speakers we use partners in the Partnerships in Science Project programme who in this way have opportunity to present their joint work with the Slovene partner and also encourage debate with non scientists. This way we popularise science, bringing it out of laboratories, so to speak. We have done it for a year and a half now and feel Cafes are most useful in promotion of science to wider audiences. We inform and send invitations out also to press and media, and sometimes a journalist would come out and do an interview with participants. We offer a glass of wine or two, and other beverages, no food. We do not ask participants to confirm their visit, we leave it up to them. We usually get a crowd between 15 and 40 people.
